The Vacancy
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Acquisitions Team. This is a varied and challenging role where the right candidate will make a key contribution to building the national collections by acquiring print and digital publications for the Library.
You will work closely with colleagues, publishers and other agencies to ensure that the Library receives titles via Legal Deposit, in print or digital format. This will involve negotiation with publishers as well as effective use of data and systems to monitor success. Promotion of Legal Deposit and building relationships with publishers is a key element of the role.
In addition, you will take the lead in ensuring the Library’s purchased subscriptions are administered effectively. This will include working closely with our subscription agents and colleagues to monitor progress and ensure actions are completed by the team to deadlines. You will review and update procedures and provide training to ensure best use of Alma and vendor systems in support of subscriptions acquisition.
We are looking for a colleague with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, who is focussed on working collaboratively to deliver high quality outcomes for the Library.
This is a busy role which requires attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to display initiative to accomplish tasks efficiently. The successful candidate will be confident in communicating via telephone, videocall and email. They will be comfortable with delivering training and providing guidance to colleagues.
Experience of working with collection acquisitions in a library or similar organisation would give you an advantage. If this sounds like you, then we look forward to reading your application.
