A Dundee an Angus based freelance opportunity enablit bi the National Library o Scotland.

The darg o the Scots Scriever – enablit bi Creative Scotland alang wi the National Library o Scotland – ettles tae help wi the scrievin o original wark in Scots, an tae help spreid the word o hou Scots can be yaised in creative warks o different kinds. The 2025-26 Scriever will celebrate an heize up the richness o the Scots leid.

The main aim o the twal-month residency is the creation o excitin oreiginal wark in the leid by an artist bidin in the Dundee an Angus area. While some community involvement wi fowk will be encouraged, the Scriever will aye hae plenty time tae set aside for his ain oreiginal wark. We jalousie that this will be a 30/70% split atween engagement an scrievin time. This will include time tae explore an interact wi the monie rich an extensive Scots collections in the National Library. Tae this enn the National Library will gie access tae curatorial staff, gin it’s thocht necessair, for help in luikin through the collections. It is jaloused that the applicant wid cairry oot the wark o the appyntment alangside their ain wark or freelance commitments, sae that they wad aye hae freedom tae wale hou tae yaise their time an sort oot how much time they ettle tae spen physically in the Library. This can be brocht up at the interview stage. Traivel costs atween Dundee/Angus tae Embro will be gien, sae that the Scriever can mak day veisits tae the Library.
