The Vacancy
We are looking for a part time Security Officer to join our Security Team within the Library’s Business Support Department.
The part time working pattern is:
Week 1/2 - Thu 7 Fri 7 Sat 7 then Mon 7 Tue 7
Week 3/4 – Wed 7 Thu 7 Fri 7 then Mon 7 Tue 7
You will work 1 Saturday in 6.
The Team is responsible for a diverse number of activities which support the safety and security of colleagues, Library users, the buildings, and the Collections of the National Library of Scotland. The Team is also instrumental in dealing with extraordinary events both of a Security and Safety nature that require an immediate response.
We are looking for someone who is a great team player but can also work with minimum supervision if required. You will be a demonstrably honest and reliable person and be flexible in your approach to work and be comfortable with change.
Previous experience of security work would be an advantage as would understanding health and safety and fire safety issues, along with possessing a willingness to learn and be open to new ideas.
You should hold a driving license and either have a First Aid certificate or agree to work towards gaining one in your first year with us. You will be proficient with software such as Office 365 and other computer-based systems.
