The Vacancy
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Acquisitions Team. This is a varied role where the right candidate will make a key contribution to building the national collections by acquiring print and digital publications for the Library.
Working as part of a wider team of Acquisitions Librarians you will carry out a range of tasks across the donation, purchase, and subscription acquisition workflows. These will include working closely with sellers and donors, sourcing and ordering publications, checking and recording new acquisitions and invoices on Library systems and responding to enquiries.
What we are looking for -
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and problem solving skills, who is focussed on working collaboratively to deliver high quality outcomes for the Library.
This is a busy role which requires attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to display initiative to accomplish tasks efficiently. You will be a team player with experience of working in a library. Experience of working with collection acquisitions in a library or similar organisation would give you an advantage. If this sounds like you, then we look forward to reading your application.
What we can offer you -
If you are successful, you will be working for one of Scotland’s premier cultural institutions, a library that holds the nation’s memory in its vast collections. You’ll have the opportunity to work flexibly, where the service allows, and we’ll provide you with training and development opportunities. We have generous annual leave and offer a pension scheme. And of course, you’ll join a team of great colleagues.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact Nicola Stratton, Modern Acquisitions Manager (n.stratton@nls.uk).
Interviews will be held the week commencing 14 October 2024.
